Really Good Gin & Whisky Cocktails
The wonderful team at Distell shared with us a catalogue of easy recipes made with their Tobermory Gin and Deanston Kentucky Cask Whisky.
We picked 5 of our (tried and tested) favourites to share with you here.
1. Wildflower Gin-Kombucha
Ingredients:
50ml Tobermory Mountain Gin
25ml Campari
15ml fresh lemon juice
½ teaspoon finely grated fresh ginger
100ml Rose kombucha, chilled
Lemon wedges & edible flowers for serving
How to make it:
Stir the gin, Campari, lemon juice, and ginger in a cocktail shaker.
Strain into an ice-filled glass and top with the kombucha.
Garnish with the lemon wedges and edible flowers.
2. Honey & Rhubarb Sour
Ingredients:
50ml Deanston Virgin Oak
25ml Rhubarb-ginger cordial
1 Teaspoon of honey
25ml Freshly-squeezed lemon juice
1 Egg white (can be left out if you prefer)
How to make it:
Add the cocktail ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice.
Shake vigorously for 10 seconds to chill.

Pour into a your glass of choice.
Garnish with a rhubarb ribbon to impress.

3. Kentucky Coca-Cola Float
Ingredients:
50ml Deanston Kentucky Cask
200ml Coca-Cola
1 Scoop Vanilla Ice Cream
Sprinkles (optional)
How to make it:
Add the bourbon or whisky to a tall glass.
Top it up with Coca-Cola, leaving about 2 fingers width at the top. This leaves space for the ice cream.
Take a good scoop of vanilla ice cream and add it to the top.
4. Elderflower & Sage
Ingredients:
4 Sage leaves
1 Teaspoon of sugar
5 Slices of cucumber
1 Large egg white (can be left out if you prefer)
50ml Tobermory Gin
15ml Freshly squeezed lemon juice
Angostura bitters
How to make it:
Muddle the sage leaves, sugar, and 4 cucumber slices in a cocktail shaker.
Add egg white, gin, lemon juice, elderflower cordial, and a dash of bitters.
Cover and shake vigorously until egg white is very frothy (about 1 minute).
Fill shaker with ice and shake vigorously until the outside is frosty, about 1 minute.
Pour into a glass and garnish with the remaining cucumber slices.
5. Virgin Oak 75
Ingredients:
25ml Deanston Virgin Oak
25ml Freshly squeezed lemon juice
25ml of a simple sweet syrup
100ml Sparkling rosé wine
How to make it:
Add the whisky, lemon juice, and syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice.
Shake until chilled.
Pour into a flute or tall glass and top with sparkling rosé.
