White Beans with Sage, Garlic & Parmesan | A Slow Summer Recipe Inspired by Tuscany
White Beans with Sage, Garlic, and Parmesan
A slow summer recipe inspired by the rolling hills of Tuscany.

Summer in Italy begins not with a grand announcement, but with a shift you can feel. The days stretch a little longer. The scent of herbs fills the air. Lunch lingers into the afternoon, and time seems to slip away.
This recipe captures that feeling; simple, slow, and full of flavour, much like the early summer landscapes that inspired our new Primavera Estate range.
Just a handful of good ingredients, and a reminder to savour the season.
Ingredients
- 1 tin of white beans (cannellini or butter beans)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2–3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
- A small handful of fresh sage leaves
- 30g Parmesan, finely grated (plus extra to serve)
- Sea salt and cracked black pepper

Method
In a wide pan, melt the butter with the olive oil over a medium heat.
Add the garlic and sage, letting them gently sizzle until the garlic turns golden and the sage crisps.
Tip in the white beans, stir to coat, and season well.
Cook for a few minutes until warmed through and starting to break down at the edges.
Remove from the heat, stir through the Parmesan, and serve with more on top.
Best enjoyed al fresco, in the quiet warmth of a slow afternoon.
