5 Scents That Will Boost Your Focus & Productivity

The best scents to improve concentration & creativity

Aromatherapy may not be the first tool you think of to help boost your productivity and focus; but we think should be. Being the strongest of our senses, smell has the best ability to influence brain activity. So choosing the right fragrances to fill your space whilst you work or study can be hugely beneficial to your overall focus and productivity.

1. Sage
In aromatherapy, Clary Sage is known for its ability to improve mental function. Inhaling clary sage's fresh scent can improve your productivity and mental focus.

We like to keep a bottle of our Clean Essential Oil on our desks at work. It contains a refreshing blend of peppermint, clary sage and lavender - you could say ultimate scent for focus.

Pair the Clean Essential oil with an aroma diffuser and fill your space with the scent.
2. Lemon
We’d always recommend citrus based scents when you feel like you need a bit of a lift or help waking up in the morning.

Lemon is a particularly great scent at promoting concentration as well as reducing feelings of anxiety.

Our Greenhouse scent is a fresh blend of sweet vine tomato, basil and lemon zest. Burn the candle to fill your space at home, or use the room spray for an instant scent boost at your office.
3. Peppermint
A known energy booster, peppermint invigorates the mind, promotes concentration and stimulates clear thinking. It is one of the best scents for focus.

Find uplifting peppermint in our Onsen collection, along with eucalyptus and mandarin.

To help fight fatigue on your commute morning or evening, try our Onsen air freshener in your car.
4. Jasmine
Often used to help calm nerves, Jasmine has uplifting capabilities that promote feelings of confidence and optimism.

Jasmine is also linked to feeling switched on and serene, at the same time - the ideal scent for interviews and meetings.

You’ll find Jasmine in our Wildflower collection, along with gardenia and rose geranium. Try the candle and room spray in our Wildflower Set.
5. Cedarwood
Traditionally used to aid relaxation and calm nerves means that Cedarwood can also be effective at reducing mental clutter and in turn, improving productivity and focus.

Find Cedarwood in our Atlas Cedar collection along with olive leaf and white musk.

We like to burn our Atlas Cedar candle in the evenings at home after work to help switch off and unwind.

How to use scents to improve productivity

Diffuse essential oils in your work area for an instant boost of energy

If you have a diffuser at your desk, try adding a few drops of essential oil to invigorate your space.

Keep a home mist handy

Home mists are great to give your home and work space an instant scent refresh while giving you the benefits associated with the smell chosen. This is great if you want the benefits of essential oils, but don't want the smell to linger all day long.

Take an air freshener with you wherever you go

Use in the car, or if your office has a no burn policy. Hang up the air freshener of your favourite Earl of East scent.
